Art moves into the city center of Hof
From October 5, 2026 to January 15, 2027, the Art Action in the City Center transforms central areas of Hof into an open art space. Artists showcase their works in shop windows and retail locations along Ludwigstraße, at the Upper Gate, in the Old Town, in Poststraße, and in Lorenzstraße.
Shop windows become galleries
The exhibition connects contemporary art with everyday urban experiences. Between shopping, architecture, and urban movement, new situations for viewing the works emerge: painting, graphic works, objects, and other artistic positions step out of the classic museum space and meet passersby directly.
Art in public urban space
Three regional artists, Siggi Schmidt, Kat Schulze, and Traudl Benker, participate in the action. The presentation in shop windows and retail locations creates a special exhibition atmosphere, where light, glass, facades, and historical city structures become part of the aesthetic experience. The city center thus appears as a walkable gallery and a place for cultural education.
Community cultural project
The action is organized by the Economic Development of the City of Hof together with Hof artists and the owners of the participating retail spaces and objects. The project strengthens the connection between the local creative scene, urban development, and cultural participation.
Free admission and accessible at all times
Visiting is free of charge. Since the artworks are displayed at several central urban locations, the exhibition can be flexibly combined with a walk through Hof. The viewing of the works is particularly appealing at different times of the day, when natural and artificial light moods change in the shop windows.
Conclusion
The Art Action in the City Center invites you to see Hof with new eyes and encounter contemporary art in the middle of urban everyday life. Those who want to experience regional art, open exhibition formats, and a vibrant city center will discover a free art experience between the Old Town, shop windows, and public space.
