Understanding Resources, Shaping the Future: An Interactive Exhibition
How much water, energy, metal, and land are contained in the items of our daily lives? The interactive traveling exhibition Save the World ... at least a little by the consumer advice center Bayern makes the often invisible resource consumption tangible and shows concrete ways to a more sustainable lifestyle. From November 2 to December 16, 2026, the exhibition can be experienced in the foyer of the Hofer Land Adult Education Center in Hof.
An Aesthetic Experience with Practical Intent
The exhibition does not rely on raised fingers but on an accessible connection of information, design, and personal experience. Ten thematic modules invite visitors to reflect on the works in a metaphorical sense: visitors discover relationships, question habits, and examine their daily lives with new eyes.
The so-called ecological backpack makes personal resource consumption physically tangible. What otherwise appears abstract in statistics gains weight and spatial effect. Hand-drawn illustrations, colorful markings, and short information texts translate complex relationships of environmental education into a clear, sensory exhibition language.
Virtual Water, Drawer Phones, and the CO2 Footprint
The focus is on water, energy, raw materials, and climate protection. The exhibition explains what is meant by the term virtual water and what resources are embedded in everyday products. At the station for so-called drawer phones, it becomes clear which valuable raw materials slumber in old mobile phones and how recycling can contribute to recovery.
Packaging waste and sustainable consumption are also treated concretely. During virtual shopping, the personal CO2 footprint can be checked. The interactive presentation links factual knowledge with immediate everyday experiences and strengthens cultural education in the area of education for sustainable development.
Global Connections Become Audible
The audio station This is About the World expands the exhibition with a global perspective. Voices and stories from Bolivia, Ghana, and other countries make tangible the social and ecological consequences that our resource consumption can have. The exhibition atmosphere remains open and inviting: curiosity replaces overwhelm, concrete action ideas replace abstract appeals.
Opening and Educational Offers for Schools
The opening takes place on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 5 p.m. in the foyer of VHS Hof. No registration is required for the opening. For schools, there is a special mediation program from November 16 to 30, including a guided tour and two workshops in cooperation with AZV Hof and Energievision Frankenwald e.V.
Group tours can be booked starting from eight persons. The contact person is Anja Naumann from the district of Hof. The exhibition was funded by the Rolf and Hubertine Schiffbauer Foundation.
Conclusion: Sustainability Starts with Your Own Perspective
The exhibition offers an informative, interactive, and surprisingly sensual art experience in the service of environmental education. Those who want to better understand their consumption, recognize global connections, and take concrete resource tips for everyday life can find numerous points of connection in Hof. A visit enriches both the aesthetic experience and personal action competence.
