Murderous Stories Blending Horror, Humor, and Regional Flair
On Thursday, November 19, 2026, the reading festival THE DARK SIDE invites you to the Book Gallery Hof for a literary evening full of suspense, dark humor, and surprising twists. At Noble Murders, three distinctive voices of German-language crime literature come together: Monika Geier, Yvette Eckstein, and Thomas Kastura.
A Beautiful Child: Old Houses, Dark Secrets
Monika Geier will read from her crime novel A Beautiful Child. The story centers around the young set designer Marlie Eichhorn, who is searching for a filming location for a television series in the Palatinate and stumbles upon a seemingly perfect old house. Behind the walls lies a deadly secret. Geier's narrative blends horror and situational comedy, illusion and memory into a sophisticated web of confusion.
Monika Geier, born in 1970, writes crime novels for the Ariadne Publishing House and also creates radio plays, columns, and non-fiction texts. As a founding member of the feminist author group herLand, she represents an independent, socially conscious perspective within the German-language crime scene.
Death on Hohenzollern: Murder in the Shadow of the Castle
Yvette Eckstein presents Death on Hohenzollern, a crime novel set in a historical location with regional color. When a guard is found dead on the steps of St. Michael's Chapel and a valuable stained glass window goes missing, Castle Master Wolfgang and his daughter Hannah take the investigation into their own hands.
Eckstein is interested in the moment when a familiar world falls apart. Her stories combine suspense with human nuances and show how closely the crime scene, memory, and social relationships are intertwined.
Conversation with Thomas Kastura
Thomas Kastura will guide the evening as a conversation partner. The author, who lives in Bamberg, studied German Studies and History and has been working as an author for Bavarian Radio since 1996. His literary spectrum ranges from short stories and youth books to crime novels and crime anthologies.
With The Fourth Murderer, Kastura reached number one on the Crime World Bestlist. For his story Enough is Enough, he received the Friedrich Glauser Prize in 2017 in the short crime category. Under the pseudonym Gordon Tyrie, he also writes Hebrides crime novels.
Reading Atmosphere and Literary Experience
The reading promises a multilayered encounter with the authors: voices, locations, and investigations come together for an evening where literary quality and entertaining suspense intertwine. Amidst old houses, medieval walls, and psychologically finely drawn characters, an atmosphere is created in which crime is as present as the art of language.
The evening is aimed at adult literature enthusiasts who appreciate regional crime stories, cozy crime, darkly humorous twists, and the cultural discourse surrounding the genre. The Book Gallery Hof will serve as an intimate venue for stories that derive their suspense from places, memories, and human abysses.
Conclusion: Three Voices, an Exciting Crime Evening
Noble Murders brings together three different perspectives on literary crime on November 19, 2026. Visitors can look forward to a reading with Monika Geier and Yvette Eckstein, a talk with Thomas Kastura, and an evening full of horror, humor, and regional atmosphere. Those who want to not only read crime literature but experience it live will find a fitting crime scene in the Book Gallery Hof.
