Literature Service with the Moomins: Fantasy, Faith, and Nordic Sounds

When the doors of St. Lorenz Church open, literature, spirituality, and communal experiences meet in a special way. The German-Finnish-Swedish literature service will dedicate itself on October 18, 2026, to the imaginative world of the Moomins and the Finnish author Tove Jansson.

A Liturgical Journey through the World of the Moomins

The Ev. Pioneer Church YouLO connects literary excursions with prayer, blessing, and multilingual elements in the service. German, Finnish, and Swedish give the celebration an open, European atmosphere. The stories of the Moomins invite reflection on security, friendship, courage, and the quiet questions of life.

Folkmusic and Set to Music Literature

The band Klangschnitz provides a special faith experience with Nordic rhythms and set to music texts by Mascha Kaléko. Between church space, music, and literary images, a calm, dreamy atmosphere is created that connects contemplation and cultural encounter.

Literature, Finland, and Community

Afterwards, YouLO invites you to a get-together with traditional snacks in collaboration with the German-Finnish Society Hof. The city library Hof will create a reading and browsing corner around Tove Jansson, the Moomins, and Finland. A small information exhibition will present the authors Tove Jansson and Mascha Kaléko.

Special Program for Children

Young visitors will also experience the service in their own way. In parallel, there will be a Moomin bedtime church at the Lorenzer community center. Children and parents will come together again afterward and receive the multilingual blessing together.

Invitation to Families, Believers, and Literature Lovers

The literature service is aimed at families, adults, children, and everyone who wishes to connect religious experience with literature and music. The celebration opens a space for spirituality, encounters, and new perspectives on faith and everyday life.

Look forward to a service full of fantasy, Nordic sounds, multilingual impulses, and warm community. Experience the Moomins live in St. Lorenz Church and let their quiet wisdom touch you.
