Hotel Falter Hof | Opening Hours & Menu
The Hotel Falter Hof is a family-run country hotel located in the Unterkotzau district of Hof, just a few steps from the Saale River. Situated at Hirschberger Str. 6, 95030 Hof, the establishment combines Franconian hospitality with quiet rooms, a large beer garden, and a kitchen that draws significantly from its own agricultural production. For guests who value short distances, free parking, and a personal atmosphere, the location is ideal: drivers can park directly at the hotel, and those arriving by bus benefit from Unterkotzau's connection to the Hof public transport network. The tradition of the hotel dates back to the mid-1950s when the Falter family established a brewery inn with hotel operations and a beer garden; since then, it has been continuously modernized without losing its unique character. Today, travelers will find comfortable non-smoking rooms with Wi-Fi, minibars, and soundproof windows, flexible spaces for celebrations and meetings, as well as evening service in the restaurant for hotel guests featuring a small, fresh menu. Check-in, breakfast starting early in the morning, and useful services such as card payment complete the offering.
Restaurant Hours, Breakfast, and Hotel Closing Times
When planning a stay, it is particularly important to check the current times. The evening service in the restaurant is geared towards hotel guests and takes place from Monday to Friday between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM; the hot kitchen closes at 7:30 PM. During this time frame, a small selection of seasonal, freshly prepared dishes is offered, focusing heavily on regional products. Due to the intentionally slim menu and staffing arrangements, a reservation or advance notice is explicitly required, which is especially helpful on busy days and for groups. There is no regular evening service on weekends; whether special openings for events are possible is clarified individually by the team upon request. Early risers benefit from in-house catering starting at 6:30 AM, which is convenient for commuters and business travelers. For arrivals and departures: Check-in is scheduled from 2:00 PM, and check-out is until 11:00 AM. For late arrivals, the key safe allows for a late check-in by prior arrangement. Since the reception cannot be staffed continuously, a quick phone call in advance is recommended, especially if you arrive outside of the usual times or are traveling with multiple people. This way, the team can coordinate reservations, key handover, and possibly the use of meeting rooms smoothly. Additional convenience is provided by cashless payments with EC card, Mastercard, or VISA. This interplay of predictable times, early breakfast options, and uncomplicated arrival makes the stay manageable and relaxed—whether you are in Hof for business, preparing a family celebration, or making a stopover by the Saale.
Prices, Booking, and Phone Number
Transparency in booking is a plus for the hotel. The hotel provides guidelines for overnight stays directly: single rooms start at around €51 per night, twin rooms at around €86, and double rooms at around €95 per night. These price indications serve as orientation and may vary depending on the travel period, occupancy, and arrangements. Those wishing to make a binding reservation or request an individual offer for longer stays, groups, or celebrations can reach the reception at +49 9281 7675-0. Alternatively, the hotel website offers a direct contact option including a form and email address. For quick planning, it is advisable to include desired travel dates, room category, and special requirements (such as a crib, pet, or late arrival) in the inquiry. Business travelers benefit from predictable services such as early breakfast, Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, soundproof rooms, and convenient card payment. Families appreciate the child-friendly orientation and the beer garden, which offers additional quality of stay in good weather. Those planning a celebration or meeting can specify the required room layout, technology, and catering in their inquiry; the team will create suitable proposals. For all bookings, the hotel’s own parking lot is free, simplifying the overall calculation, especially for longer stays. The combination of clearly communicated price ranges, easily reachable phone numbers, and flexible booking options ensures a short path from initial interest to confirmation. This leaves more time for what matters: arriving, unpacking, and enjoying the stay.
Directions, Location by the Saale, and Parking
The Falter Hof is located in the green Unterkotzau district of Hof, not far from the Saale River. The address Hirschberger Str. 6, 95030 Hof is easy to find and particularly convenient for drivers, as free parking is available directly at the hotel. Those using public transport can reach Unterkotzau via the Hof city bus network; a line connects Unterkotzau and the main train station every hour. To improve connectivity, the Unterkotzau terminus was relocated to the banks of the Saale on December 6, 2021, about 50 meters after the intersection of Hirschberger Straße. This adjustment facilitates the usual route and creates a clear boarding situation. Thus, the hotel is easily accessible for both train travelers and day visitors. On-site, one can orient themselves by Hirschberger Straße; the hotel with beer garden and the building part of the former brewery inn is well-known in the area. For cyclists, the riverside location offers a pleasant approach, and due to the quiet side location, rooms and outdoor areas are not affected by through traffic. Those arriving late can use the key safe by prior arrangement; for safe evening arrivals, a quick phone call is worthwhile to inform the team about the details of the key handover. For GPS users, the postal code and house number are sufficient; upon request, the reception can send a route map. Thanks to the free parking, the bus connection between Unterkotzau and the Hof main station, and the compact structure on-site, switching between rooms, restaurant, and meeting rooms is effortless. This makes the location equally attractive for business trips, family visits, or celebrations.
Menu and Kitchen from Own Agriculture
The kitchen of the house is consciously regionally oriented and draws from a unique feature: some of the ingredients come from the Falter family's own agricultural production. This includes, for example, game from their own enclosure, as well as lamb and herbs grown on-site. This proximity to the products shapes the taste and character of the menu. The restaurant opens in the evenings from Monday to Friday for hotel guests and offers a small, freshly prepared selection that varies by season. Instead of an overly long menu, the team focuses on quality, short distances, and artisanal preparation. Classics of Franconian cuisine meet modern, down-to-earth accents, as the chef describes: nothing contrived, but regional cooking done with joy and passion. For hotel guests, this means an uncomplicated dinner in-house without sacrificing authenticity. In line with the origin of the products, dishes featuring game, lamb, or fresh herbs can be found; additions such as homemade specialties from the direct sales brand Max dahoam may be included throughout the year. Since the menu is kept small and the evening hours are compact, reservations are mandatory. Those planning a celebration should discuss menu wishes in advance; the team organizes buffets or menus tailored to the occasion, season, and number of guests. In summer, the beer garden enhances the culinary experience when the weather permits. The hotel is prepared for dietary restrictions and vegetarian requests; the service page explicitly emphasizes the willingness to gladly offer vegetarian dishes. This creates an offering that combines the convenience of short distances for hotel guests with the quality of a regional kitchen rooted in its own operation.
Rooms, Amenities, and Celebrations and Meetings
The rooms at Falter Hof are bright, quiet, and designed as non-smoking rooms. Features include Wi-Fi, minibars, flat-screen TVs, private bathrooms with showers or bathtubs, hairdryers, and soundproof windows. The hotel provides size specifications for the categories: double rooms offer around 27 square meters of space, twin rooms are generously described with about 15 square meters. Additional details such as cosmetic mirrors or soap dispensers are available, and a shoe polishing machine is provided. Those traveling with children can request an additional crib. Pets are allowed for a small fee, which can be relevant for vacations with dogs or longer stays. The hotel emphasizes its family-friendly orientation and the green location, which can be enjoyed in the beer garden during nice weather. For work and collaboration, there are side or conference rooms available; the hotel highlights top seminar and meeting equipment. The team takes care of organization and execution, creating proposals for seating arrangements, break catering, and optional evening menus. Weddings and family celebrations are accompanied with great attention to detail, allowing individual wishes to be accommodated without guests having to worry about logistics. The hotel’s own parking lot directly at the house is a practical advantage, especially for suppliers, service providers, or guests bringing equipment. In total, a setup is created that meets the needs of business travelers who appreciate reliable Wi-Fi and quiet, as well as the expectations of families and celebration parties who prefer flexible spaces and short distances. This is supported by services such as early catering starting at 6:30 AM, card payment, and the option to make arrival flexible through a key safe.
Reviews and Photos: How Guests Experience the Falter Hof
Public feedback paints a consistent picture: the value for money, the friendliness of the staff, and the solid cleanliness of the rooms are praised. Recognition is repeatedly given for the breakfast and the quiet location, which is particularly appreciated by business travelers. The kitchen also impresses, especially when the proximity to the own products is noticeable in the dishes. Those wishing to spend the evening relaxing in-house will find an honest selection in the small menu that avoids gimmicks. Note the compact evening hours of the hot kitchen and the necessity of reservations, which the hotel clearly communicates. Photos on the hotel website provide an impression of the country-style decor of the rooms with warm colors and wooden tones, the beer garden, and the spaces for celebrations and meetings. For planners, it is worthwhile to check the room section for size and equipment details as well as the pages about celebrations and meetings to assess an event. Those wanting to get a sense of the history and identity of the house can find information about its origins in the 1950s as a brewery inn, the significance of the beer garden as a meeting point, and a note on the 2008 acquisition of the brand and brewing rights of the former Falter Brewery by Scherdel on the history page. This creates a coherent overall package: a house with roots in the region that continues its tradition while also meeting contemporary needs. For travelers seeking tranquility, short distances, and regional cuisine, this results in a practical, friendly address in Hof-Unterkotzau.

Unfortunately, I have to say, disaster, too long wait time, too little selection, pasta almost raw and way too expensive, service very friendly, I don't know what it's about. Overwhelmed, too little staff? The tenant should think about it. It's okay for playing, but unsuitable for a quiet meal.

It remains the place for billiards... In my eyes, it's a bit shabby and very outdated for a billiard center. It's a shame that the snooker is retired. So far, always very friendly service. The food is good, the beers too, but the Spezi is quite bland; I suspect it's a low-carbonation premix from the tap. The brand lacks color, flavor, and fizz.

Unfriendly, very grumpy service, waited over an hour for pizza. Even the stairway with the smell of the toilet hints at what's to come... definitely won't be coming back!!!
