Ossecker Stadium Hof: A Traditional Sports Park for Competitive Events and Open-Air Emotions
Since its grand opening on June 18, 1982, the Municipal Stadium on Ossecker Straße 50 has been a cornerstone of Hof's sports culture. Evolving from a historical facility with a cinder track, it has transformed into a multifunctional sports park featuring a synthetic running track, a covered grandstand, and modern infrastructure—continuously enhanced through renovation and expansion efforts up to the present day. As the home of 1. FFC Hof and a training center for LG Hof, the stadium now provides ideal conditions for athletics meetings, football matches, school sports festivals, and audience-attracting outdoor events.
The venue's history shapes its identity: Sports history has been made on this site since the 1930s. With a complete redevelopment in 1980/81, the covering of the standing grandstand in 1999, and the energy-efficient and technical renovation in 2017/18, the facility has gained the performance capabilities that event planners appreciate for smooth operations. A place with significance: A memorial plaque today honors the Hof resistance fighter Philipp Heller—providing the stadium with a cultural anchor that extends far beyond sports.
Architecture & Spatial Concept: Functional, Clear, Audience-Friendly
The spatial layout follows clear flows for spectators and athletes. The 400-meter synthetic track encircles the natural grass playing field, allowing for efficient organization of football and athletics competitions. The covered grandstand supports a weather-independent event atmosphere, enhances spectator comfort, and positively impacts acoustics. Behind the scenes, operational rooms, changing facilities, and a control booth ensure a professional venue operation and clean signal paths between event management, security, and technology.
The linear arrangement of buildings facilitates the separation of athlete and spectator areas, while short distances between changing rooms, mixed zones, and the playing field guarantee quick transitions. For event agencies, this means clear production logistics, reliable time codes, and swift setup and teardown—even with tightly scheduled tournament or meeting timelines.
Technical Infrastructure: Stadium Lighting, Synthetic Track, Control Room – Ready for Competition Mode
The facility is equipped with floodlights, a fully enclosed athletics synthetic track, and a control booth for outdoor sports events. Combined with the technically modernized facilities from 2017/18, this creates a robust setup for event productions that meets the requirements for visibility, safety, and organizational communication. For athletics events, the typical discipline areas are available; for football, the natural grass provides the game-defining quality—supported by lighting for late kick-off times and an atmospheric venue experience.
Recent expansions have focused on energy efficiency and operational reliability—a plus for facility management and sustainability. The expansion initiated by 1. FFC Hof, featuring a synthetic training area (90×60 m), improves the all-weather suitability of the entire area and increases utilization for training and event formats.
Capacity & Spectator Services: Up to 5,000 Visitors, Clear Pathways
With a capacity of up to 5,000 seats, Ossecker Stadium offers ample space for regional championships, association matches, meetings, and public events. The covered grandstand creates weatherproof seating and standing areas, while the track serves as a buffer and production zone during larger sporting events. Ticketing and access concepts can be modularly scaled, allowing event planners to flexibly vary between semi-public training sessions, league matches, and larger competition formats.
Clear signage in both the outdoor and indoor areas enhances the visitor experience. Thanks to the manageable stadium geometry, short distances between entrances, grandstands, sanitary facilities, and catering stations are created—a relevant factor for dwell time, kiosk sales, and overall positive guest flows.
Event Formats: Athletics Meetings, Women's Football, School Sports Festivals
As the home of 1. FFC Hof, women's football regularly features in the event calendar—from league matches to test games. LG Hof utilizes the facility for international sports festivals and Bavarian championships; the synthetic track and discipline fields have been designed for such competition setups. Additionally, school sports festivals and training camps establish the stadium as a multifunctional sports and meeting venue. This creates a robust annual program for sports offices, clubs, and agencies with planable slots for both own and guest events.
The combination of natural grass fields, athletics segments, and floodlights makes the stadium attractive for evening formats as well. Meeting productions with athlete presentations, suitable lighting moods, and focused direction enhance the event atmosphere. For sponsor and club activations, field edges and grandstand areas can be commercially utilized—while adhering to association guidelines.
Acoustics, Sightlines & Venue Experience
The oval geometry with close grandstands ensures immediate sightlines—important for sprint straights, finish areas, and goal scenes. The covering supports the room acoustics, consolidates fan chants and moderation signals, and amplifies the live-perceptible dynamics. Speaker and start signals are clearly audible; the audience remains close to the competition action. For event direction and stadium announcers, this means precise announcements—from schedule calls to victory ceremonies.
Even in changing weather conditions, the atmosphere remains viable: Floodlights and the grandstand roof stabilize perception, while the synthetic track provides athletes with consistent conditions. The result is a consistent venue experience—for both athletes and visitors.
Back-of-House & Production Logistics
Changing rooms, showers, technical and storage rooms are consolidated in the elongated building section. The control booth in the multi-story section offers an overview of the arena, enabling start/finish control, announcements, and time management. This zoning reduces interface conflicts and accelerates decision-making processes during ongoing operations—a plus for safety, medical, and competition management.
For tournament and league operations, waiting areas, call rooms, and material pools (hurdles, starting blocks, throwing implements) can be planned along short transport routes. During peak times, the stadium structure allows for a clear scheduling of warm-ups, heats, and finals without disrupting visitor flows.
Location, Accessibility & Parking
The stadium is located on Ossecker Straße in the Hof urban area and is quickly accessible via regional access roads. Public parking spaces in the vicinity complement additional, temporarily managed parking options depending on the event. For public transport and train travelers, the last mile can be organized on foot or via city transport. Please note: Organizers should communicate event-related travel information early and keep emergency routes consistently clear.
For school sports and club operations, the location is ideal: short distances, defined delivery zones, and an environment that allows for additional training areas. The proximity of other sports facilities on Ossecker Straße creates synergies for multi-field and multi-day formats.
Sustainability & Operational Reliability
The energy renovation improves the efficiency of the building envelope and technical facilities. This conserves budgets, reduces operating costs, and stabilizes availability—a relevant advantage for recurring event series. An organized facility management system with clear contacts in the Hof city stadium administration ensures planable processes, from space allocation plans to handover for external productions.
For organizers, this means calculable infrastructure, transparent responsibilities, and reliable lead times for booking and acceptance. This is reflected in the quality of events and the satisfaction of teams, officials, and audiences.

Can you use the track freely here? I'm looking for one so I can expand my running training. I usually only run in the woods and would like to train on a track for recovery runs in between. Usually, I would train in the mornings... Is that possible?

Sundays are very annoying when not only football or other things are played. No, music is also played the whole time. Very annoying for residents!
